Dr. Kensey Inouye has been in private practice since 1980 after receiving his optometry degree from Pacific University. He recently joined practices with Dr. Jan Hirakawa having known her since high school.
Dr. Jan Hirakawa began practice with Dr. Roy Hirakawa in 1982 after receiving her optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. She took over the practice in 1995 and specialized in contact lenses with an emphasis on specialty lens fits.
Both Dr. Jan and Dr. Kensey provide full scope optometric services from comprehensive eye examinations to treating red eyes and glaucoma. They both also provide refractive surgery consultations including pre and post-operative care and co-manage cataract surgery patients with various ophthalmologists in Honolulu.
The practice specializes in difficult to fit contact lenses utilizing the latest computerized fitting techniques but always welcome the straight forward contact lens fit. Recognized by various contact lens manufacturers, both Dr. Jan and Dr. Kensey frequently participate in clinical investigations of new contact lenses. This keeps both doctors abreast of the latest in contact lenses technologies.

We're located on Algaroba Street between Hauoli and Pumehana streets. If you are traveling east on King Street, take the first right after Zippy's onto Hauoli, then the first left onto Algaroba. We are half a block down Algaroba on the left behind the mock orange hedges.
Laine Higa
Laine Higa works in the office during his vacations from school. As a recent graduate of Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR, he will be starting optometry school this August at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago.
