Dr. Kensey Inouye has been in private practice since 1980. He relocated his office in 1994 to its current location across from the Washington Middle School. Dr. Inouye accepts new patients from infants to the elderly into his family optometric practice. His interests include fitting high oxygen permeable contact lenses for healthier lens wear and managing glaucoma, a common disorder in the Hawaii population.
Since 1996 Dr. Inouye has used corneal topography, the computer mapping of the eye's surface, to manage contact lens fitting. As a pioneer in topographic contact lens fitting, he has published numerous articles in professional journals nationally and internationally on corneal topography and contact lenses.
Dr. Inouye participates regularly in clinical investigations for several contact lens companies which allows him to fit new lens materials and designs that provide healthier and more convenient lens wear. Being a clinical investigator allows Dr. Inouye to stay in tune with the latest lens technologies while sharing new information with fellow optometrists.
